Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Day

Skill Requirements:


Education: Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training, Completion of university


Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Registered Clinical Counsellor, First Aid Certificate


Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years


Languages: Speak English


Work Setting: Residential treatment centre


Area of Counselling Specialization: Anger management, Conflict resolution, Childhood and adolescent issues, Depression, Family and marriage, Personal growth and self-development, Substance abuse, Compulsive gambling


Type of Clients: Adolescents, Organizations, Families, Adults, Children, Aboriginal groups, Young offenders, Homeless, Persons with mental health disabilities


Specific Skills: Interview clients, Prepare case histories, Assess clients' problems, Develop and implement counselling and intervention programs to assist clients in determining goals and means of attaining them, Counsel clients and provide psychotherapy, Evaluate effectiveness of counselling programs and interventions, Evaluate clients' progress in resolving identified problems and movement towards defined objectives, Follow up results of counselling programs and clients' adjustment, Write reports (assessment, follow-up, progress, court reports, etc.), Identify additional/alternative services and provide referrals, Knowledge of 12 step philosophy, Liaise with communities, Facilitate groups, Teach life skills


Additional Skills: Perform administrative tasks, Use computer applications


Other Languages: Portuguese
