Community and Resource Development Worker

Position Type: Full Time


GreenHere is an environmental organization dedicated to increasing the urban forest in lower income communities to improve environmental and human health while boosting social cohesion and engagement. GreenHere was initiated to mitigate the detrimental health, social, and environmental affects that result from a critical lack of green space.

By addressing environmental justice and social issues faced in mixed residential/ industrial neighbourhoods GreenHere delivers a number of community-based tree planting, environmental planning and stewardship programs that involve community consultation and decision-making, multilingual outreach, workshops, festivals and greening/reforestation initiatives in urban neighbourhoods. By planting trees today and developing tree stewardship programs, we are protecting urban ecosystems and long-term air quality for generations to come.

Responsibilities:

Research grants and foundations that can support GreenHere's campaign
Create and distribute communication materials (flyers, brochures, translations and website input)
Work collaboratively with other staff in developing media and outreach tools
Respond to inquiries about GreenHere's programs and services
Co-write and edit various funding proposals for GreenHere programs and projects
Communicate with constituents (partners, community groups, city officials)
Communicate with funding agencies, donors, volunteers, and stakeholders
Assist Greenhere in establishing and implementing policies, protocols and procedures
Assist in GreenHere's web design and text using basic html
Support the development of revenue generation plan
Develop long-term organizational plans for the expansion of GreenHere
Various administrative duties as assigned
Coordinate a community fruit harvesting pilot project in partnership with The Stop
Qualifications:

Must have experience/ education in human resources, social studies, media studies, community development, community developments or the arts
Must have an interest in community development and environmental issues
The ability to speak a second language preferred (Especially Arabic, Spanish, Korean, Portuguese, Italian and South Asian languages)
Have a respect for diverse cultures and an ability to work well with people from a different social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
Experience working or volunteering with a not-for-profit organization preferred
Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
Must be detail-oriented with outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated editing abilities
A self-motivated team player that takes initiative and adapts to changing demands
Knowledge of MS Office package and Mac OS X
