Disney Interactive Media Group (DIMG) is a segment of The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) responsible for the creation and delivery of Disney branded interactive entertainment and informational content across multiple platforms including online, mobile and video game consoles around the globe. DIMG core businesses include Disney Interactive Studios, which self publishes and distributes a broad portfolio of multi-platform video games, mobile games and interactive entertainment worldwide; and Disney Online, which produces the No. 1 Community-Family & Parenting Web site and an industry-leading suite of online virtual worlds for kids and families.
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of the DOSC database infrastructure. Work as a member of the Technical Operations team to ensure production level database performance and availability.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Establish procedures for database security, backup replication recovery, and the use of database utilities.
* Design logical and physical databases and/or propose changes to physical/logical database designs.
* Establish physical database parameters.
* Monitor database performance and capacity, proactively addressing potential problems, physical design and implementation of new databases environments.
* Provide technical support for database technologies, and involve Disney IT or external vendors as required.
* Provide advice and counsel to the developers regarding the most complex aspects of database methodologies.
* Develop technical specifications for the complex database applications for use by the developers.
* Analyze the stored data and make recommendations relating to performance and efficiency of data storage.
* Model data to optimize the system layouts.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Post-secondary degree or diploma in computer technology, or equivalent experience.
* 5+ years experience in mySQL database management.
* Proficient with MySQL and other database technologies.
* Experience with Linux and e-commerce.
* Experience with online games.
SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED
* Expert level knowledge of database technologies.
* Diversified knowledge of information technology (hardware, software, methodologies, languages, and standards).
* Able to perform at a high level in high pressure, live production situations.
* Clear written and verbal communication.
* Analytical, organized, and autonomous.
* Able to prioritize and delegate as required.
* Able to deliver on deadline.
