The virtual world of Club Penguin contains no third-party advertising and is free to use and enjoy, however a subscription membership provides access to additional features that enhance the play experience. Club Penguin is headquartered in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, and can be played in English, Portuguese, French and Spanish.
Job Requirements
JOB DESCRIPTION

Manages the development and maintenance of all virtual world servers (client and server), also manages a number of other shared technical resources working across multiple project teams such as Technical Writer, Unit Test Programmer, and Business Analyst.

RESPONSIBILITIES

•Day to day management of the server programmers to ensure scalability, reliability and security of the platform all virtual worlds rely upon.
•Day to day management of other shared technical resources such as technical writer, unit test programmer, and business analyst working across multiple project teams.
•Review, approve, schedule and manage software approach and implementation.
•Maintain a healthy working environment for the team.
•Mentor the team.
•Assess third-party tools.Analyze buy vs. build and make recommendations.
•Provide status reports to Senior Manager, Software Engineering.
QUALIFICATIONS

•5+ years people management in a technical field.
•5+ years experience in Linux/PHP/MySQL/Java programming.
•5+ years server experience (design, maintenance or programming)
•Demonstrated knowledge of object oriented analysis and design
•Well versed in design patterns, application architecture and unit testing
•Demonstrated knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and best practices in quality management
•Experience in a game production studio an asset.
•Proficiency with Java, PHP, MySQL, Javascript, and Linux required.
•Experience with Smartfox, SVN and Adobe Flash preferred.
•Fluent in English.
